Simple Mead Recipe (Sack Mead)
10lbs quality wildflower honey
Champagne or sweet mead yeast
5tsp yeast nutrient
Approx. 3-4gal water

Dissolve honey in water at 90
ºF to acheive starting gravity of 1.100-1.120.
Add yeast nutrient, then pitch yeast.

Ferment approx. 2 months in primary, then rack and ferment approx. 4 months in secondary. (It may be necessary to rack a third time depending on fermentation conditions and temperatures.)
When mead is completely finished, bottle and age forever.

Bees!

Look, it's an astronaut exploring the wilds of Farmington! Oh wait, it's just John tending to his bees. In the yard behind our Farmington store, John oversees no less than four hives, each of them abuzz with honey-making activity.

There are many different types of honey with varying flavor and aroma properties. It is the primary ingredient in mead -- which, by the way, is exactly as delicious as you're thinking it must be -- a honey wine that can be made sweet, dry, or semi-sweet. Our recipe above is for a sweet "sack" mead, which, after proper racking and fermentation, will produce a fantastic dessert-style wine.
